Any visitor to the city should experience Lisboa night life, one of the many facets of Portugal. For the night owl and the party goer, this capital has so much to offer from its trendy bars and lively discotheques to its rustic restaurants and cultural theatres. Note that night activities are concentrated in Bairro Alto, 24 de Julho, Docas, and Cais de Sodre.

Bars and clubs

The city is full of amazing bars from the peculiar Pavilhao Chines and the eclectic Cafe Suave to the cosy Setimo Ceu and the historic A Brasileira. These establishments are usually open until 2 am.

Discotheques

Curiously, a big number of these businesses are near Tage: l’Avenida 24 de Julho and the Cais de Alcantara. Admission is free with the majority requiring a minimum consumption of drinks. Take your pick from the gay scene in Trumps to the classy Kremlin and Kapital. These joints close at 4 am with a few extending business hours up to 6 in the morning.

“”Tascas”"

Dining options are plenty from restaurants to eateries that serve international and local/regional cuisine. Going to “”tascas”" is customary before heading to the entertainment spots. These are cosy taverns where you can sample savoury hors d’oeuvre and drinks. Ginginjha Sem Reval-Eduardino and Pirata are a few of these haunts.

Fado

A song for lovers of the night, a fado is a music genre that dates back to the 18th century. It focuses on the sea, destiny, and life. Fados are usually played in restaurants, bars, and cafes with Senor Vinho hosting the most popular fadistas.

Theatres

Lisbon’s cultural scene has changed dramatically in the last 15 years with plenty of choices from classical to contemporary theatre. Coliseo dos Recreios and Artista Unidos n’a Capital are two places offering a variety of shows.

Cinemas

Modern day cinema has a strong presence in the city. Cinematica Portuguesa and Monumental are ideal places to catch up on Portuguese, European, and Hollywood movies.

Sports and culture

Centro Cultural de Belem hosts cultural shows while sports lovers can visit Sports Lisboa Benfica for an exciting football match.

Berlin is the capital city of Germany and is one of the country’s 16 states. It is also considered one of the biggest cities in the world. The city is home to numerous attractions including various architectural marvels, historic sites and major flea markets. Apart from the more historic sites, the city has many modern attractions that rival other major cities around the world.

The hotels in Berlin are many and range from prestigious five star to one star hotels. The Berlin Mitte which is the city’s central district has some of the more expensive hotels. These are also in high demand particularly by international clients. The demand for hotels peak around the holidays or when there are any major events happening in the city. For short stays, it is recommended that one stays in the central district to avoid the long commutes associated with districts that are further away. However, wherever one stays, it is prudent to ensure that one is within walking distance of the city’s public transport system that is very efficient.

The other choices of hotels are the ones in the airport. Their convenience lies in being able to catch very early or late flights without the hassle of long commutes. Berlin is served by an international airport – Berlin Tegel – that is located about 8km from the city. Many of these hotels are located within this airport for the convenience of its clients.

The choice of hotels in Berlin therefore depends on one’s budget, location and length of stay in the city. Generally there is promise of exceptional facilities and services provided by the hotels. Sightseeing in New York City

In the bustling metropolis of New York individual boroughs are seemingly different countries, each with its distinctive style and culture. Extending for 305 square miles and with a population of over 8 million, this city is the most cosmopolitan and arguably the most exciting in the United States.

The Empire State Building is an excellent starting point. This truly iconic building opened in 1931 and at 1,454 ft high was for forty years the world’s tallest building. Another must see is Times Square, with the enormous electronic billboards that have become symbolic of the city. This is the heart of Theatre Land and same-day theatre tickets are available here.

If the hectic pace of the streets becomes too much, head for the 843 acre oasis of Central Park. Created as a leisure space for all city residents, joggers and in-line skaters flock the paths while tourists meander and explore the park’s sculptures and tranquil spots. Open-air theatre productions and concerts are held in the summer.

Museums such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Modern Art and the Guggenheim are other attractions to visit. New York houses several other museums and galleries, and it is well worth exploring some of the smaller and lesser known.

The Statue of Liberty can be seen from Lower Manhattan or visited by ferry. This enormous monument was given to the United States by the people of France in 1886. It represents Libertas, the Roman goddess of freedom, and has become symbolic of the United States, freedom and democracy. On the same ferry it is possible to visit Ellis Island, New York’s major immigration station from 1892 to 1954 and now home to the Immigration Museum.

Finally, the 9/11 Memorial is now open and is a reflective, quiet space to honour those who died in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Two vast pools and waterfalls lie where the Twin Towers stood and are surrounded by a grove of oak trees; the design was chosen to represent hope and renewal.

A holiday in Florida is a fantastic experience. Florida offers a huge variety of destinations and attractions to make the perfect holiday for everyone.

Visitors to Florida can arrive into a range of airports. The most popular route is direct to Orlando International or Orlando Sanford. These airports are ideal for holiday makers visiting the attractions of Orlando and surrounding areas.
For holiday makers who wish to see Miami and the Florida Keys there is an airport in Miami which serves these popular destinations.

For most visitors it is the Florida theme parks which bring them to book a holiday in Florida. There are many to choose from and fitting them all in on one holiday can be quite a challenge.

In the Orlando area there are the renowned Disney parks. These include the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, MGM studios, Animal Kingdom and the water parks. As well as these Disney offers a huge variety of resort hotels, restaurants and shopping centres. There are even golf courses and water sports activities at the different resorts.

Nearby to Disney there is Universal Studios, a theme park based around famous movies. Universal studios has a wealth of rides and attractions for all ages. Universal is home to the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter based on the popular Harry Potter films.

Florida has much to offer in addition to theme parks. There is Kennedy Space Centre on the East Coast where holiday makers can learn all about rocket launches and space missions. There is also the west coast offering beautiful beaches as an alternative to all the hustle and bustle of the parks.

Further south Miami offers an excellent beach holiday as well as fantastic nightlife. The Florida Keys along the southernmost tip of the sunshine state provides travellers the chance to step back in time and enjoy a more relaxed holiday in the small old fashioned towns and sunbathe on the white sandy beaches.

Have you ever thought about car rental Las Vegas? travelling around whether on a business trip or a holiday can be made much easier by renting a vehicle.

Las Vegas is said to be the playground of the rich and famous, this is mainly due to the vast number of fantastic hotels and casinos in the city. Las Vegas is also renowned as the wedding capital of the world. A great number of couples flock to Las Vegas every year to get married at one of the wonderful wedding chapels situated there. In addition to wedding chapels couples can choose alternative locations such as drive thru weddings and helicopter rides to a Grand Canyon location wedding. This said there are numerous other reasons why visitors come to the area, there are many business in the city and car rental Las Vegas can be the ideal way for the business traveller to get from the airport to the downtown area without waiting for a cab.

Las Vegas is located in the south of the state of Nevada. The city itself consists of an array of fabulous hotels, casinos, shopping malls, wedding chapels and business premises. In the surrounding area there are private houses and apartments many with their own pools, a necessity with the warm climate experienced in the state.

The roads in the city and around the city are excellent and this makes it ideal for car rental. It is true that the infamous Las Vegas strip, the road that runs through the city, can get very busy, yet it is easy to adapt to the pace.

Las Vegas also has excellent road links to California and Los Angeles. Los Angeles can be reached in around 4 ½ hours by car.

As one of Italy’s leading tourist destinations, Venice has for a long time been associated with romance. Thinking of Italy conjures up clichéd images of Romeo and Juliet, and thinking of Venice brings to mind romantic gondola rides under the Rialto Bridge, sharing fabulous pasta dishes around a campo or piazza, and couples sipping Chianti whilst exchanging fond kisses. Even the sound of the language itself is romantic!

The Italians love romance. They are passionate in almost all that they do so quick to ensure that all those on a honeymoon in Venice get that little bit extra. A honeymoon in Venice certainly turns out to be far more than you would expect. An experience that both of you are sure to remember fondly, with no end of stories to tell your friends and family, for the rest of your life.

So, why Venice? The city is relatively small. A wondrous maze of canals and narrow streets, packed with life, history and nostalgia. A warren of shops and cafes that are great to explore where nothing is too far from your hotel. The architecture provides the perfect backdrop. Tall white washed buildings tower over the narrow canals, where locals donning the latest designer gear mingle with tourists reading their guidebooks and other romantics in one of the many little canal side cafes. The climate is warm and the atmosphere exciting. The food is recognised as one of the finest cuisines in the world, albeit that it’s virtually impossible to eat a bowl of spaghetti and look attractive!

Skiing in Kitzbühel

A winter wonderland awaits you when you go skiing in Kitzbühel in the Tyrolean Alps of Austria. Kitzbühel is a favorite skiing and holiday destination for both Europeans and others from around the globe. It also boasts the most challenging ski racecourse in the world, namely Hahnenkamm and the famous Streif which is known to be the world’s most difficult downhill ski run.

The historic town of Kitzbühel does have a glaring Achilles heel, in that it lies at a rather low altitude. One thus rarely finds a decent amount of natural snow on the lower slopes. To counter this problem, a huge investment has been made into artificial snow making. This has alleviated most of the problems regarding a lack of decent snow.

Kitzbühel lies in what is known as the inner Alpine region, where temperatures are lower than the Swiss or French Alps region. This historic town is blessed with an extensive array of slopes higher up the mountains. These are easily reached by a network of ski-lifts that transport you from area to area. Here the snow is usually plentiful, as the winters tend to be long due to huge cloud banks that gather over the northern Alps. The higher slopes are thus well supplied with heavy snowfalls during the winter months thanks to Mother Nature.
Prices for accommodation vary tremendously, but the middle and lower budgets are well catered for. Enjoying a holiday skiing in Kitzbühel does not necessarily need to cost an arm and a leg.

Kitzbühel caters for all grades of skiers including beginners. The snow parks are ideal and safe for those who are having their first experience at skiing. The intermediates and experts are also well catered for at the snow parks. These feature a variety of different obstacles and challenges.

The Alps, above Kitzbühel, provide most skiers with a huge variety of ski runs, from gentle rolling hills to extreme slopes. The mountainside is scattered with quaint rest spots and watering holes. These spots satisfy the inevitable hunger pangs and thirst that arise from the exertion of skiing in Kitzbühel.

Summer in Norway

Norway brings to mind images of snow and ice and all the things that go with winter. But what about summer cottage norway? There is plenty to do and enjoy in this lovely country in summer too! You can stay in a variety of accomodation including cabins or traditional timber houses. You can choose to be in a quiet rural area, or in a town or village. The scenery is spectacular across many parts of Norway. In summer the snow is gone and the landscape is green and lush interspersed with rivers and fjords. You can opt for a location over-looking some of these spectacular sights. You might be close to a harbour, fjord, or with a view of the woods or mountains. There is plenty of choice, so decide where you want to be for your stay. Or you could choose on the basis of the cottage itself, and what it can offer. Many have traditional features like wood-burning stoves and painted wooden décor. Some will have hot tubs, saunas, or a pool. You can choose a larger cottage, and make this big family or group trip, or find somewhere small and cosy. A rural location will often have outdoor space for children to run and play, and for you to relax. From your cottage you can venture out on walks or cycle rides. These are great ways to really see the area, and the local the flora and fauna. Make time to just stop and take in the views. You could take a picnic lunch and have a whole day away from it all. You could also take a fishing trip, swim, hike into the mountains, explore local towns, and maybe catch the Northern Lights. There is plenty to do, even without snow and winter sports, so why not take that summer cottage norway holiday this year?
