Five Security Tips for your Interrail Europe Trip
You must be aware of your personal safety at all times during your interrail Europe trip and take active steps to ensure that you and your belongings stay safe.

1) Before you arrive at your destination research how you will get from the train station to your hostel or hotel. Take a taxi or find out where the buses leave from to avoid looking lost and therefore easy prey to people who might have bad intentions.
2) Your most valuable possessions (apart from your own person) are your passport and interrail ticket. Keep them safe and secure in a travel wallet which you can strap to a belt or hang around our neck. If you decide to tuck the wallet inside your trousers do not leave it in your back pocket where it can be easily swiped.
3) Be mindful not to display too may personal possessions of value such as iPads, mobile phones and wallets. They can act like lightning rods for thieves during your interrail Europe trip.
4) Always be wary of stranger danger. Though you may want to meet lots of new people on your travels, don’t get too close to strangers. There are con artists out there who make a decent living by scamming travellers. This is why it is always better to travel in small groups with a couple of friends.
5) If you are in a compartment lock the door when you want to go to sleep. If you are in a normal seat and want to get some shut-eye secure your backpack or suitcase under the seat with a small bicycle lock. This will act as a deterrent to the opportunistic thief.
Interrailing is a very safe and enjoyable way to travel and a few common sense precautions will help to ensure that it stays that way.
