Tahiti …. With A Little Dash Of Brando?

Travel to Tahiti will soon include a little of the Brando mystique transfused into the mix.

Tahiti has always been one of the world’s dream destinations, sought after for its warm South Seas lagoons and gentle trade winds, its exotic natural pearls – indeed, a place to relax and luxuriate.
Honeymooners have long enjoyed extended sojourns tucked away here and there on one or another dreamlike island, idling away time as though it didn’t exist. Tahiti has embraced all-comers now for a hundred years and its promise as a haven for lovers it has always kept true.
For some the lure of its pearls was enough to bring them. Many have claimed them to be unique, exotic, rare – even the finest in the world. Their very colours attested to their mystique; peacock, champagne, cherry and lavender, silver and black among them. Pearls alone seemed reason enough for many to travel to Tahiti.
But now, yet another reason to visit Tahiti; from the interest and growth in demand for eco-tourism around the world, the Marlon Brando Living Trust is soon to open a luxurious eco-style resort on the pristine Tahitian island of Tetiaroa – the island that captured the imagination of Marlon Brando and where he lived for many years. The resort is to be named The Brando, in honour of the iconic actor.
Until now the island of Tetiaroa has lain relatively virgin and dormant – accessible, but hardly developed and not so frequently visited. Soon through its unique natural beauty and a newly appreciated history, a few discerning travellers will be able to secure a bungalow from which to enjoy the exotic treats this island offers.
Verdant green around half its circumference, bluer than blue waters lapping gently on white sands, and a lagoon alive with tropical fish are the gifts this tiny atoll presents its visitors – unspoilt natural beauty.
In addition to the island’s natural beauty, Tetiaroa will also soon be showcasing its significant history as the once de rigueur playground of Tahitian Kings of past days.
Thanks, yes, I’ll take that with a dash of Brando.
